saturday smiles

i just realized my passport is shy of it's 6 months validity period when we had to apply for visa.. and so i drove over to bndr dmnsara today to have it renewed.


while waiting for my turn - my sister and i were noticing certain patterns in malaysians (the office is only opened for malaysians today). in short, we are really, impatient people. while i wasn't in any rush we could see people cutting lines, making really rude remarks, just barge to a counter to ask questions in a rough tone when there's someone there, etc.

so embarassing, ok?

i was interrupted a few times when i was finally at the counter for processing. aahh malaysians. no "excuse me", no "sorry", no "hello". a


if it wasn't for my own experience, i would have come to the conclusion that the immigration service is crappy. but really, they caught me off guard. while the crowd was easing off i could hear the officers speak. they were really nice and friendly. and courteous too.

so when it was my turn i was attended to by this young indian boy, about my brother's age. and he was really nice and helpful. me being me, ended up chatting a little bit. he was talking about how some people are just grumpy and plain rude. and i told him, i work in PR. it's common in my world too.

then..he saw the status part on my form - marked as "single".

if i can snap a picture of how shocked he looked it would be great to post on my blog.
"akak, belum kahwin lagi?"
and i nodded with a smile. (oh no. pls don't ask why.)

instead he said "nama akak sedap, akak cantik, berbudi bahasa pulak tu. saya harap akak jumpa calon yang baik".

and i broke into laughters. then he went on "nanti akak jemput saya pergi kenduri ye".
and by then i was done and said thank you before having to turn back a few times because he was saying thank you a few more times.

while i was paying the fees (ouch there goes 300 bucks), he was signalling to my sister that i was a good customer. hehe. i know how he must feel. one whole morning of crappy customers and finally someone came up to say hello.

anyhow. it brought smiles to my face :)
